Dealer FAQ
Welcome to the Empire State Warranty Dealer FAQ page. Here, we answer your most common questions about our services and products. If you don’t find the information you’re looking for, feel free to contact us directly for assistance.
How is Empire State Warranty different from direct-to-consumer companies like Empire Auto Protect?
Empire State Warranty is built for dealers, not direct sales. We don’t compete with you—we support you. Unlike companies like Empire Auto Protect, that market directly to consumers, we provide private-label, high-margin F&I products and hands-on support to grow your dealership’s revenue. Our commitment is to your success, not cutting you out of the process.
Since you guys are a small business what happens if you go out of business?
In the event ESW were to go out of business or something was to happen within the company that would impact our administration services empire state warranty is insured through old republic insurance company. What this means is old republic would take over the responsibilities of those claims being paid and the customers being covered. This is required in the state of NY and we have decided to maintain this in other states to protect the dealerships as if we were not insured then the liability of any unpaid claims for a company that were to go out of business would fall under the responsibility of the dealer
You have so many programs. Why?
Empire State warranty mainly has 5 primary warranty programs with all unique qualities about them. The reason we have decided to do this is to make our programs more aggressive and affordable for dealers and consumers alike. Have you ever price compared other companies to each other? Well essentially that is what you are doing internally within empire’s portal! Our programs compete with each other to give you the best bang for your buck when it comes to coverage and cost. Any additional questions about specifics of each plans and their unique qualities please refer to your roadmap ( I will attach the roadmap to the email I send with this and you can have it as a hyper link on the website )
You guys are priced aggressively as opposed to others we work with? Usually this is a red flag with other companies should it be with you?
Typically in the service contract business this is a red flag as the reduced cost of a contract is because those companies save money on their adjudication of claims and finding ways not to pay rather than the customer service the consumer and repair facility deserve. With us that is not the case. Our overhead has a tendency to be much lower then other administrators as well as the youth of our quality risk of our products create an advantageous mix of aggressive pricing to dealers which in turn creates aggressive pricing to provide to consumers. We do not sacrifice customer service quality for pricing its simply a matter of young administrator with low overhead and transferring those savings over to you and your customers.
Are the people that represent you agents or do they work directly for you?
Every member of the Empire State Warranty team works directly for the company. From our sales team to the people administering claims and customer service you can rest easy that every representative has an intimate understanding of our products, and services we provide.
Can I finance the warranties we sell through you guys?
Yes! We have relationships with all major lenders in the states we are actively represented in as well as if you are working with a lender that does not have back end options or the customer is a cash buyer we have a 0% interest free financing program where that warranty can be funded through. Ask your Business development executive for more information as to if you qualify for our indirect program for financing.
Can a customer directly buy a warranty through you guys?
Typically our model is directly through a partnered dealer of empire state warranty. You control the sales process with the consumer. In the event a customer reaches out to us and they stated they purchased a contract through one of our partnered dealers we would simply redirect the customer back to your dealership.
Can a customer purchase a warranty after the time of sale?
Typically, no. the consumer has to purchase the warranty at time of purchase however exceptions can be made dependent upon the situation. Please reach out to your business development executive for more details if this situation arises.
What are your requirements for us to sign up with you?
Since Empire State Warranty is a small business and want to pay claims and have an elite level of customer service we require a minimum commitment of 5 contracts per month. The reason for this is quality risk control. Our numbers indicate that anything lower on the average of this amount of contracts per month is not in the best interest of our company and loss ratios are never at a healthy amount hence the reason for this requirement.
If I miss the minimum one month will I be shut off?
No, we go based on a rolling average per month in 3-6 month increments. Every quarter we evaluate our accounts and if minimum requirements are not being met we will send out a “pending deactivation letter” typically there is a 90 day window to rectify the activity issue unless during this window we deem that average is untenable then we will move forward with the deactivation process.
If I’m deactivated am I never able to work with empire state again?
No, usually if someone wants to come back with us and were originally deactivated due to inactivity if we can agree to hit those commitments we will override the deactivation status and reactivate the account.
What is Loss ratio?
Loss ratio is a calculation of a dealer’s performance in reference to contracts that are sold to claims that are paid.
How do I know if my account is in good standing?
A business development executive on the Empire State Warranty Team will typically have a once-a-month account overview of the dealers performance in which case activity, loss ratio, training and other elements are discussed.
What is a healthy loss ratio?
We color code our dealers based on loss ratio:
80% or below you’re in the green
80-90% you’re in the yellow mean its ok but room for improvement
90-100% you are in the orange and there is a level of risk concern
100% or above you are in the red and are at potential risk of deactivation.

When in your monthly account overviews with your business development executive they can discuss further how contract maturity and other factors play a role in this as well as how to effectively evaluate strategies to either improve these numbers or if your in really good standing alternative options for the dealers per the numbers being evaluated.
How do you guys compare yourself to everyone else?
In all honesty we don’t. we have a direct sales model with aggressive pricing that focuses on customer service and quality of the relationship of service department, dealer, and consumer. We have yet to run into another competitor that can effectively elevate themselves at the levels we do. Honestly the only way to find out if this is true is by giving us a shot and coming on board!
Are you guys integrated with my DMS, menu or other systems that I can sell my warranties through?
Yes, we have direct integrations with the top data aggregators in the country F & I Express and PEN Exchange Network. If for whatever reason you work with a company that does not use either of these companies for data aggregation we have a dedicated IT Team that can help with any integrations that might be needed in order to do business with us.
How do I become an In-Network Repair Facility?
In-network shops benefit from direct ACH payments and extra visibility on our site. If you’re interested in joining, contact us or click here to apply.

EXCELLENT Based on 46 reviews Santa Nick C04/08/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. EVERYONE is leery of buying extended warranty's. I was the same. NO LONGER!!!!!!! After reviewing their small print and reading all of what they had to offer, I decided to buy their Elite warranty with 4x4 and High tech programs for my 2014 Ford escape purchased from Exit 5 auto. a short time later a careless driver t-boned me. Once i notified Empire State Warranty, they had a check in my hands for the remainder of the contact in under 3 days... SO i purchased another vehicle from a deal outside of their service. After an inspection i was able to once again Purchase a warranty... and then YET ANOTHER driver wrecked my car.. Once again They came through with a refund. ...Fast forward to October last year.. purchased another Ford Escape from one of their participating Dealers... I got the same Warranty i had in the past..... Until last week when i heard a noise in the front end. I took it to Exit 5 Auto... they Diagnosed it as front control arms. Not only was the initial Diagnostics covered, so were the parts labor and the Alignment to the tune of $1700 that i WOULD have had to pay out of pocket. . On TOP of that, ESW allows for a 1 time stipend of $150 towards brakes so i used that and it paid for part of the front brakes. I have ABSOLUTELY NO concerns as a Santa Claus or ad a person with recommending Empire State Warranty. They have been above board each and every time i have dealt with them. Totally recommend them!!! I will be doing business with them regardless of where i buy my vehicles. Josh The Dealmaker30/07/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best warranty company . With many warranty options available starting at low affordable prices. I highly recommend. Sean25/07/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Empire State Warranty is the only company we use for extended service contracts on our Volvos at Precision. We spent over 20 years shying away from warranty companies because they were way over priced, promised a lot, and never actually covered what went wrong. We have known Steve Blanchard for over 15 years, and when we found out he started Empire State Warranty we immediately signed up with him. Years ago we were able to sell all our Volvos without extended service contracts. Parts were less money, emissions laws were different, labor was less, and technology was not as advanced. Unfortunately those days are over and every car on the road has become costly to repair. Parts prices have doubled or tripled in recent years, and more and more parts have become a global network of shared manufacturers. It is almost a necessity these days to protect your investment, no matter what you drive. We would only offer a service contract that actually does what it says, and that is why we use Empire State Warranty. This company is the real deal, and we wouldn't risk our reputation offering something that didn't work. Queensbury Auto Mall23/07/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. By far the best warranty company out there. These guys are top notch. Justin Gasman30/05/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had the privilege of spending two days instructing a workshop at Empire State Warranty’s new corporate headquarters in Albany, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. It was my first time visiting, and my first time meeting Steve Blanchard and his outstanding team in person and from the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I was somewhere special. This isn’t just a business, it’s a mission. Empire State Warranty may have started as a small, family-owned operation, but today it’s a national leader that still treats every dealer, employee, and guest like family. Their commitment to customer service is world-class. They actually answer the phones, fast, with real people who speak clearly, understand the products, and solve problems. The claims process is smooth, efficient, and hassle-free, which gives independent dealers the confidence to protect their customers without friction. And the facility itself? Top shelf. The training center is sleek and professional, and the breakroom is fully stocked with premium refreshments, hot coffee, cold drinks, and great snacks, all day long. Alaina keeps the coffee fresh and flowing, and her warm hospitality makes the entire experience feel like you're being hosted in someone’s home. Steve sets the tone, gracious, generous, and all-in on excellence. From their stunning marketing materials to their Diamond Dealer Awards, to the way they invest in ongoing education and people, Empire State Warranty is the real deal.
