New Automotive Tariffs
A recent Cox Automotive article discusses the market uncertainty after President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on all cars entering the U.S., including auto parts—even if assembled domestically. Erin Keating, Cox Executive Analyst, writes, “Used-vehicle inventory will eventually be impacted by new-vehicle tariffs as well. Used inventory was trending lower late in March, falling to 2.15 million units, down 1.2% against 2024.”
These changes took effect April 2, and will potentially reshape sourcing strategies for many dealers. Read more here.
